Welcome to Arena Dance Pros Kids!!!!!

An Arena Dance Pro Kid is a young dancer, usually between 8 and 18 years of age, that has performed on a major or minor sports dance or cheer team.  These talented youths are usually on what is called the 'Junior' or 'Teen' division.  These younger divisions may only perform at select games and make a few special appearances and interviews.  Although they are not on the court and field as much as the older dancers, they are an essential and important part of the arena entertainment experience. 

The audition process for these younger dancers are quite different then the older teams.  The requirements may not be as demanding or strenuous for the young hopefuls; however, having the accurate information and knowledge on what to expect is important.  Each team, director and choreographer is different so the parent or guardian must know how to properly prepare the dancer upon auditions. 

Some common questions for preparing to audition for a junior team:

1) What is the LOOK of that team?
2) What style of dance? (ie; Jazz, Jazz Funk, Hip Hop, Acrobatic)
3) What is proper attire to audition in?
4) Who is the choreographer? Background? Former routines?

These are just samples of inquiries of what every parent/guardian should ask prior to the respective audition.  There is a long list of information and questions so please be prepared and do your research.  Do not show up with your young hopeful to an audition on an assumption.

Auditioning for any dancer can be physically, emotionally and mentally exhausting.  After all, your dancer may not be what the judges are looking for at that particular time.  The dance industry requires performers to have a thick skin even these young hopefuls.  Properly preparing your young dancer for what to expect and how to handle a possible rejection is what will give your future Arena Dance Pro the confidence and motivation to not give up and try again next time.

3) An Arena Dance Pro will observe the young dancer at their respective studios in their class. The class would involve Jazz or Hip Hop.  Immediately following, the ADP Staff member will meet with you and the dancer to discuss what needs to improve and what it will take to make it through the audition. Please receive prior written permission from the studio owner for ADP observation.
